Wacom™ Cintiq – Cheaper Alternatives
For those who don’t know what it is, the Wacom™ Cintiq is a tool for digital artists to create art more easily and efficiently. The tool boasts 2048 levels of pressure sensitivity, a 3-in-1 cable, and easy portability. Today, I will show you some cheaper alternatives to the wallet-destroyer.
(NOTE: This article only displays alternatives to newer models: The 13HD, 22HD, 24HD, Companion, and Companion Hybrid.)
1. Cintiq 13HD ($999) – Yiynova DP10U+ 10.1″ ($370)
So the Yiynova DP10U wins because it is basically a plug-and-play compared to the Cintiq 13HD and it is also lets you save $629 on something not too different from a Cintiq 13HD.
2. Cintiq Companion ($2499) – Surface Pro 2 ($899)
Do I really need to make another chart for this? Note that the Surface Pro 2 cannot act as a second monitor for your computer. And to answer your question, yes, the Surface Pro 2 has pressure sensitivity as well.
3. Cintiq Companion Hybrid ($1499) – Samsung Galaxy Note Pro ($749)
Pressure Sensitivity: Check.
Cheaper: Check.
Android: Check.
S Pen: Check.
You’re good to go.
4. Cintiq 22HD ($1999) – Monoprice 19-Inch ($389)
You get the point. 3 inches smaller, but it makes it up with it’s amazing price.
5. (And Finally): Cintiq 24HD ($2499) – Yiynova MVP22U ($969)
Still a good deal compared to the massive 24HD.
I would still never be able to afford any of the alternatives.
What do you guys think? Would you buy an alternative?
